很久沒有post了。Blog, 像是被遺忘的名字，上世紀的產物。朋友當中有blog 的，都沒有再更新。也許長篇大論的blog已被twitter取代，我不知道。我沒有twitter，也不打算安裝，我並不喜歡那種三言兩語的速食溝通方式。我想，也許我是一個喋喋不休的人吧。
這半年來，我的生活都可算起了重大變化，對於人和事，基本心態都沒有改變，我還是我，儘管身份已有所不同。
言歸正傳，本篇特別的地方，在於我第一次用iPad 來寫。我並不是一個熱衷享受試用新科技的人，今次心血來潮搜尋blogger app, 並不「常見」。用ipad寫中文最大的不同之處，便是使用手寫輸入法，平時在電腦靠拼音輸入；換言之，現在真的需要記得怎樣「寫」字，幸好so far so good。
我不能擔保這裏可以定期更新，至少，我不會把這裏關門大吉。如果有緣「到此一遊」的話，歡迎留下隻字片語，作為「有緣千里能相會」的印証。而我，亦會儘量抽空寫上點滴生活軼事，心路歷程，下次再會了。

Busy busy...
My hubby's birthday celebration weekend...
Friday: dinner in friend's place.
Saturday: dinner with in-law's family
Sunday: Brunch with friends on Salmon House. Great view and great brunch! Then go to Richmond Sears to do some shopping.
Monday: Actual birth date. Had dinner in Le Crocodile. We want to try that restaurant for long time. Heard that it's really pricey. But it's my hubby's birthday, I have the perfect excuse to be there. We are both very satisfied with with dinner! Actually the price is about on par with other fine dining restaurant.
Work-wise:
Monday + Tuesday: busy with interview, and the follow up work.
Friday: dinner in friend's place.

Very productive weekend
Friday: dinner @ friend's place as usual.
Saturday: dim sum and hang around with friend's family for the afternoon. I'm so glad my friend offered help. I even feel bad to ask them but since he called, I have no reason to reject, in which I really need. And I just have to treat them dinner as well.
Sunday: Had class from 9-4. Pretty exhausted, the class itself is not bad. It's better than the last one I attended. Then I went back to work for a bit. Got too hungry and my mind wasn't able to focus much. Decided to have dinner instead. Well, I do work about 1.5 hour though.

週末的雪
週末的雪，來也匆匆，去也匆匆.
It started Saturday morning, but by mid-Sunday it's all gone as it rains quite heavily on Sunday.
Usually I don't go out when it snows. I just don't like the chaos traffic and also, I don't walk very well on snow/icy floor.
Anyway, since I already planned to have dim sum with my friends so I still went out quite early, 11:30am is considered early to me to have dim sum on the weekend.
After dim sum, we went to visit their place. We stayed until 3-ish then shop in a few store.
I had dinner at home while my hubby attended a wedding banquet. I feel kinda bad that I was going with him but it snows too much and it's really cold to go out.
Sunday
Dim sum and then also went to a store on Cambie street that we wanted to go last time but we went too late. This time we got there earlier but just happened that they closed on that day (they don't usually closed on Sunday). Anyway, it's like a fate that we are not going to get anything from that store.
After that, head to Richmond Center and then had dinner at home.
By Sunday night, snow is 95% gone in my area.

Shopping weekend!

OK...I was thinking to have half an hour walk to Oakridge center and then take skytrain to meet up my friend in Richmond. But the plan doesn't work out as I was sticking my butt on the couch...watching an old HK move...Anyway, I was only able to walk to the nearby skytrain station and still almost 10 minutes late. But of course, we are still 5 minutes late to the appointment. What appointment? I'm helping out my friend to pick out her wedding outfit. I always think I'm a picky person but perhaps I'm not that picky, as I see how my friend picks her dresses... :P
But yes, I can understand, wedding is one of the biggest if not THE biggest event in life, so being picky/cautious on the outlook is absolutely understandable. After that, we went to have dim sum lunch near by and then shop in Richmond center for a bit. Of course I don't intend to buy anything but at the end, I got a coat, and 2 bra! Yes I'm running a bit shortage on bra as I gain weight...and it's great sales in Jacob...so I just can't help to buy 2... and two for $30. Also bought a coat from R&W and a t-shirt for my hubby. I didn't shop in R&W much but I guess I can go a bit more often. The styles are pretty good for me actually.
Around 4-ish, I went to meet up my other groups of friend and my hubby in Automall. My friend is considering buying a new car. After that we went to a store along Bridgeport (just before it closed) and shop a while. Seems to find a good deal but of course I should shop around as well.
Dinner in in-law's place. Went home around 9:30.
Sunday
Had lunch at home. Then went to the store across the street to do some shopping. Seems to have a good deal but too bad they don't have the colour I want. Also we want to check out the review a bit before actually purchase. Then we went to Mini dealer because I'm actually quite interested in the Countryman. It's just such a cute car and yet more practical than mini. I do think 2-door car is not as practical unless you are in early 20s. We didn't really go for test drive but at least we take a look at the interior and price. After that, we went back to the cambie store but too bad it's closed early on Sunday. Then we went to Toy-R-Us on Broadway. Didn't actually buy anything though. After that we had raman in a nearby restaurant. It's not bad. We went home quite early and sleep early too (although it's mid-night!)

Happy Valentine's Day
Feb 14
Had quick dinner at home, then head out to set up a registry. After that go back to Richmond to have dessert (sweet soup).
This is the special Valentine edition cake from Thomas Hass. Yum~~

Very fresh and pretty flower. Lovely colour! And it happens to match my new dress perfectly! Thanks hubby!

Lunar Fest

While Lunar Fest could be part of the Winter Olympic Anniversary celebration, my visit to the Lunar Fest is part of my pre Valentine's Day celebration. :)
Since Valentine's Day falls on Monday this year, we decided to celebrate the day before. Had dinner in Hotel Vancouver, then just walk over to the Lunar Fest site outside the Art Gallery.
Well, dinner @ Griffin is really nothing to rave about. We went there because we try to avoid the outrages premium of the Valentine's dinner, also we can use the entertainment book coupon. At first I also plan to shop a bit in downtown before dinner but turn out we were busy with other stuff.
The theme of Lunar Fest is a lantern aquarium. Everything is lighted by LED. The site is inside a big tent. Although the site is not huge it does provide lots of great setup for photography fanatic.

Exercise again!
Looks like it's bright outside so I decided to go for a walk to the Ironwood mall during lunch hour. It's a bit windy but overall not too cold.

At first I wasn't intended to try out this new restaurant even though I have heard a lot of commercial on radio. Just because I am not going to eat raw food detour me from going to a Japanese restaurant. What's the point watching my hubby eating yummy sashimi while I can eat none?
Anyway, after hearing my friend's review I still decided to head there and give it a try. She does mention they provide a variety of cooked food so I should be well taken care of.
Anyway, the only cooked sushi I tried is pretty good, and my hubby says the scallop sashimi is also very fresh. The cooked food, is a bit on the salty side to my taste. But it could be just me always like to put minimal salt on dishes.
Overall, I will head back in future to try out more sushi or sashimi.

Exercise
I know I do need some exercise. But winter is just not a good time for any outdoor activities (except skiing/snowboarding).
Whenever I see sunshine (i.e. no rain) on the weekend, I head out and walked to Oakridge center. It's about 5KM round trip and it's a gentle uphill. Perfect for me. But that means I may put off other schedule tasks on the weekend...hm...
So far I did it twice: Jan 30 and Feb 13. 1 hour walk each.
I'm praying for more sunshine now.... :)

年，又過年...
近幾年農曆新年都在香港過，不過今年例外。早知本地的過節氣氛會有不及，但都希望能儘量保持一些簡單習俗。
幾年前，本地還有好幾個年宵市場，都是人頭湧湧呢，不過現在都沒有了。在時代坊的應該是比較大型的，但都只是好幾個攤檔。但在年三十晚我都出去逛了一趟。

停不了的Dine out 5 - Westwood Ho Bar & Grill
OK...last day of dine out event...
儘管位於UBC Golf Club 內的Westwood Ho Bar ＆ Grill不是什麼fine dining的地方。我每年都至少會去一次，因為那是我結婚的地方。我就在Golf Club內的ballroom行禮，所以對我來說那裏很有記念價值和回憶。
First course: tomato bisque
Another choice of main course: tempura scallop with bacon wrap (pepper sauce)
Entree: steak
Another choice of entree: sole with risotto
Another choice of entree: lamb
Dessert: apple pie, goat cheese cake and hazelnut tart
For anyone who love goat cheese will certainly love this cake; however, not me...I can only manage to taste the bottom. The goat cheese taste is really strong.
Overall, for a $18 3-course dinner I would say it worth the price. Service is prompt (except the server forgot to bring us bread) and friendly. Although the interior is like a pub or old fashion decor (after all it's a bar & grill), there is still nice scenery outside overlooking the small garden/gazebo area which featured as the outdoor wedding ceremony venue. I would go back another time.

停不了的Dine out 4 - Gusto di Quattro
這間餐廳對我們來說真的是新的嘗試。結果我們都沒有失望。
位於North Van的Gusto di Quattro，屬於Italian restaurant。
餐廳面積不算很大，不過氣氛很好，我尤其喜愛它的wall painting。
First course: chicken pea and roasted garlic soup
garlic的濃香，加上爽脆的bacon bits，真的恰到好處。
Another choice of first course: pizza
很正宗的意式薄crust pizza，非常好！
Main course:
真正的al dente口感，而且portion很大。不過個人覺得偏鹹了一點，不過朋友覺得ok，可能我平時慣食得比較清淡。
Dessert: 一個甜（nutella嵌配banana sauce）嘅炸餃子
Another choice of dessert - rasberry sorbet and white chocolate moouse.
Conclusion: I will be back! :) Love the pizza and pasta.

本來都沒有想過會去Miku，因為我最近都不能吃魚生類食物。但因看到友人的review說它的dine out menu非常超值，結果我就去了那裏吃了我們的新年大餐。當然，我選的是regular menu裏的熟食。
1st course: 4 different appetizer
Entree: sushi
Dessert: lemon tart
Miku 的食物一向都非常有水準。這次也不例外，以＄38的價錢，可以算是十分超值。

自從上次與inlaw family到過Aqua Riva有不錯的印象，至少他們喜歡。所以這次也與他們一起去再dine out。
First course: seafood chowder. This is definitely a non traditional chowder. It's more like watery soup, but do have lots of seafood inside.

已經有若干年沒有參與Dine Out Vancouver event，因為近幾年我在這個時候通常都身在外地。適逢今年沒有外遊的計劃，所以便趁機想以比較相宜的價錢去fine dining。
第一間訂的是C restaurant。因為我比較遲訂的關係，所以訂不到六人枱，所以變成了Girls' Night Out。
Open kitchen. 生蠔看起來很新鮮啊。
雖然我們都準時到達，不過之前有些over time。在等候其間，我們在bar section試了些免費的小吃。
友人order extra的生蠔

2nd course: Lobster risotto ($8 extra). This one is great!

Sadly to say, besides the lobster risotto, there is nothing much to rave about. With this price tag, we probably will not go back. But I have to say the risotto is good. :)
