Haven't went jogging for long time. I thought I should exercise more.
Wednesday: Run 27 mins (run 9 minutes, walk 6 mins, then run 10 mins, and walk another 10 mins).
Lunch: orange + pear + cereal
Besides sore thigh muscle for the next two days, also... :(

停不了的飯局
Friday: Dad's dinner @ Starlight Kirin. I haven't been there too long and miss the exit! I was wondering whether I should exit on Westminster Hwy or the Howe St, then my car already pass the exit before I have made up my mind. End up I was wrong, I am supposed to exit to Westminster Hwy. I was a bit scared but I know that the Howe street exit should work as well. It's a bit far, but I'm able to get there. Dinner with the daily special soup and we ordered lobster. The captain server sang the birthday song with his beautiful voice. I can tell FIL is happy with the food and service. We are happy with the bill too. ($140 I guess it's not too bad with lobster). After dinner, I started to make the wedding card until almost 2am.
Saturday: Marie and Raymond's wedding. Got to their house at 7:30am. Got up at 6. Very tired that day. Dinner in Citysquare Kirin. The first time I was served "tea" in the tea ceremony. I look awful in pictures. Way too fat now. But I'm happy for the couple. Best wishes to them.
Sunday: too tired to cook. Have dinner in Copa cafe on Cambie St. Got coupon with the free smoke salmon salad. I had the special dish with halibut/mushroom/rice baked with the pastry. The dish took a bit long to come but tastes good.
Monday: BIL's birthday. He picked the Cannery. I had the usual Salmon Wellington. The bread is exceptionally soft and huge I forgot how many slices I had. Also had the lobster bisque. Packed half of the entree home. Share chocolate cake dessert with hubby.
Tuesday: unexpected gathering. Aunt 10 called me around 10:30 in the morning. They don't usually ask me out during their visit. So then I tried to decide where to go for dinner with 10 people tonight. Finally I did pick Starlight Kirin again for the consistent quality and also they may not go that often. Only later I found out that they have been there for lunch the day before. Anyway, I also pre order a large "winter melon soup bowl". I was a bit concerned about the price because we have spent quite a lot on this weekend already (gift and dinner to FIL, gift to BIL, wedding). But at the end, surprised that we got the mango pudding for free and addition "staff" discount of 10%. Totally unexpected. I'm very happy with the bill...plus I think my BIL (Mr T) should be happy too...he got all of his lunch box taken care of. After dinner, I gave a ride to my aunt back home and then head to sing K with coworkers. Got home around 12:30am and I was so tired and no voice. The sound system isn't that great with less echo. I have to sing pretty "hard" to get enough volume.

夜機
最近在 forum 上看到關於陳慧嫻的討論,突然間,我很想再聽她其中一首首本名曲。
夜機
作曲:R. Siegel/Robert Jung 填詞:陳少琪 編曲:盧東尼

"Cooking" weekend
Since my hubby was sick for the last few days (started from Thursday), I did more cooking than I used to be. Usually we had dinner in my friend's place every Friday. Even if my friend's place is not available, we probably dine out. This time, I was cooking all the time throughout the weekend.
Thursday, I made fish soup. The fish soup then is good for fish soup + macaroni, fish soup with congee. That took care of both Friday lunch/dinner and Saturday lunch/dinner.
Saturday is the day for my first cooking class, organized by Ming Pao. I saw some discussion from local forum and it seems a good deal. $15 fee material included plus some goodies to take home. So I decided to sign up. Luckily I was able to get in the class as I knew later that some of my other friends couldn't get in. It's random draw so not every participants are able to get in.
The class started at 1pm and we were told to get there at 12:30. I was there even earlier as I want to get a better seat. Perhaps that's a "mistake"? Since we were there early, we were asked to take some pictures with the sponsored products. Hm...that's not really what I want. But I guess without sponsorship, the class fee wouldn't be that low.
Anyway, class started around 1pm. The instructor demonstrated how he cooked the dishes and followed by our to try out. The class is divided into 4 groups and each group is responsible for different dishes. My group is responsible for the scallop and the soy sauce chicken. I was helping out in marinating the scallop and pan frying. Well, I'm surprised that some "ladies" in my group wasn't helping out at all then what's the point of signing up? Oh well. There is also a 16-year old boy in my group. He joined the class as his mom signed up. Wow...what a good boy!! And he actually enjoyed cooking and took Home Economics in school. A future chef!
The big banner outside classroom. Feels like going back to high school.

Preparation

The soy sauce chicken is ready!

The dishes we learnt today: 豉油雞,碧綠帶子,薑蔥雞油飯,pizza.

Wonder why the scallop is not "碧綠"? The decoration is not there yet.

Finished product from my group:
Goodies to take home: brown rice, pizza dough, voucher for box of scallop and chicken

Sunday, I had facial appointment around noon. It's a home based facial from my friend's referral. I haven't done any facial for long time and first time to try home based ones. Not bad, especially for $35 and I guess the quality would be "consistent" since it's always done by the same person, unlike other stores that different staff serves you. Btw, my pain tolerant level is once again low. I almost scream when she squeezed the "black head" from my nose.
H is feeling better now so we decided to head out for dinner. Time for him to get some fresh air! We went to 牛仔餐廳 for dinner and waited 30 mins! I almost want to go to another restaurant. The fish soup rice noodle is good, but air con is bad, almost no air con. I seriously considered going there again next time.

Art Gallery Night
Sometimes, it happened that when I charge the cell phone battery at home, I forgot to put the cell phone back to handbag and therefore no cell phone with me that day. Since then I often bring the cell phone charger to work. Today I knew the cell phone is going to run out of battery. I had a moment to think about bring the charger back to work again, but a second thought came to me that I don't really need the cell phone today as I'm going straight back to home after work, and I didn't plan to go out during lunch hour.
But as always, there are always unexpected things happened.
My ex coworker has asked me to go to visit the Vancouver Art Gallery, featuring the Vermeer, Rembrandt and the Golden Age of Dutch Art, Masterpieces from The Rijksmuseum since June. And until now, the exhibition is in its final week. She messaged me this morning and mentioned the exhibition again. And she told me that the gallery only open late on Tuesday and Thursday. Since I always have late meeting on Thursday, it's better to go on Tuesday, and that's today!
I am ok to get off work a bit earlier. But I need my cell phone to stay in contact. And I especially need it when I'm taking public transportation at night time, after the gallery visit.
I got home, and searched for my old cell phone that I can't even remembered when was the last time I used it. And surprisingly, I am still able to make calls.
I was a bit lucky that the gallery admission is by donation on Tuesday after 6pm, otherwise I would need to pay the full price of $20.50, to me it's a bit pricey. We saw a lot of nice painting, some silverware and chinaware. Anyway, after the visit, we went to have a light meal (crepe) and head home. And I totally forgot to borrow the phone to make a call to home first! And now that I'm on the skytrain, the cell phone is only managed to call and make one dial tone and stopped. Thinking of walking two blocks to home after getting off the skytrain at 10pm...I was a bit concerned...
Getting off the skytrain, I was about to walk as fast as I could and "stay alert" all the time. But then I was relieved, I saw my hubby coming towards the station. Just about the right timing :)

Labour day long weekend
This must the long weekend with least amount of sleep.
Friday: had dinner in my friend's place as usual. There is my favourite risotto! I had almost 3 bowl and bunch of other stuff. Too full to sleep until 3am (almost 4).
Saturday, get up around noon. I'm too full to have breakfast/lunch. We went to dealership and a body shop to get a quote for fixing the car seat. After that we got home and I cook something quick for hubby. Around 4pm we head out to IKEA to buy the glass cabinet which we supposed to get one two years ago. His Macross collection was lying on the floor for almost 2 years already. At first we are a bit worried that the cabinet is too big to put inside the car, but it's actually ok, still got room in my car! After dining out in Hapa for the first time, we head back home and start assembling the cabinet at 10. It's ready around midnight and needless to say, we also sleep around 3.
Sunday: Got up around 11-ish. After dinner, I started to open my miniature collection from the boxes, since the glass cabinet is ready. 12 boxes, took me almost 2 hours to put them together! Sleep around 3-ish again...
Monday: I got up at 10 on my own. Then I head out to the supermarket to get grocery for the gathering tonight. It's WII day that a few friends of mine came over to play Wii. Since my friend is bringing over her portable grill, I need to shop for some meat.
Hubby got up around noon and started assembling his Macross robot so that they will be ready to be displayed in the shelf. It actually took him a few hours to do that, can you believe this? Anyway, friends started to come around 4 and I hope they all had good time. I didn't play though since I was busy preparing the food all the time! Dinner for 8 people is certainly not an EASY task! Friends left around 10 and I was still washing dishes, and then clean the floor with my steam mop.
This ends the long weekend. It's always good to be able to have the food you like to eat; it's always good to get together with the friends you like to hang around with.
Enjoy the good moment as life is some what fragile.
