A very bad start of the week

Basically...such a chaos today...

Didn't sleep well last night, I guess because of the heat, and partly because of the pain. Got up at 6. Was planning to start working earlier to work on the product release.
So I took off around 8am. First I decided to go to Saveon Food to get a refill of the prescription drugs, since mine has expired long ago.
However, the original medication was bought in London Drugs. Some how Saveon Food needs to get transfer permission for the refill. Since LD is not opened till 9, I can't get the original prescription. Well, what else can I do I just get the off shelf drug instead. At the self-checkout counter (btw, I love those self-check out counter), I just can't find my wallet! That is indeed very serious so I called back home and ask my hubby to check out for me. I thought I left it on the desk so I continued to drive back to the office.
Bad news indeed, my hubby said the wallet is not found. I started to turn to panic mode. Where else did I lose my wallet which contains load of credit card inside? Finally, I started to recall that I actually bought newspaper @ gas station on the way. It must be left in the gas station. So I decided to make a trip back home. And while I'm leaving the office parking lot, bump into the big boss. He must have wondered why I leave office at 9am....
Anyway, I was lucky that the traffic is not busy (usually there is long line up to Vancouver side on Hwy 99). I picked up my wallet, nothing missing. The saleslady @ gas station keep that for me. While it's already pass 9am, I drop by London Drugs hoping to get a news prescription. However, the pharmacist says the refill is already expired I have to get new prescription! !@#$#!
OK, exhausted and in pain, I went back to the office to start my work day. Made a few phone call to check the credit card status, any suspicious transaction etc. Then I got a call to get the UPS package. What ?? It was supposed to delivery on Wednesday, why today?? It's a long story with UPS but the bottom line is, if it is delivered today I have to pay the full brokerage amount but on Wednesday most likely I don't have to pay. Back to the credit card checking, I was told that I have overdue balance and that should be impossible since I always made my full payment on time. After checking my online banking history, I realized that I transferred the fund to the wrong credit card account. So end up I over paid one but didn't pay the other one! Argh~~~ I quickly transferred the fund to cover the outstanding balance, but I also realized that I may not have enough fund for the next billing statement...what a mess....I can't even cancel the card either due to the overdue outstanding balance. Anyway, I cancelled the other visa instead, then I realized that the UPS payment that I made would not be able to process...then I have to make another call to UPS for that as well...
OK..finally...lunch hour. I decided to go to walk in clinic to get the same prescribed medication as before. There is half an hour wait. Then another 20 minutes wait at LD for the prescription...
Back to work, find a critical bug for the product I work on...as usual, that delay the release. The developer is not too happy about this as it's so "last minute" that I could have caught it earlier... Well..I WISH I could have caught it earlier. But I did take part of the blame because of the audit last week, and I was too distracted with other stuff, I wasn't really focusing on this verification process.
Finally, work till 8:30pm and hopefully this version is good enough to go tomorrow.

Tomorrow, hopefully a better day.

Hectic Week

Got really stressed out @ work, due to the security audit. Did some last minute study on the topic, which I found really difficult. Not the topic itself. Just that I haven't actually "studied" for so long. Be able to memorize and present (as if I know a lot) is not an easy task. The actual interview was almost an hour. I hope everything's ok.
Besides that, I need produce a few reports and that required me to go over all defects since the beginning of the year, which is, a total of around 900. In addition, there are two product releases that I have to deal with, one for Monday and one the coming Friday.

Weather has been so hot these days that I couldn't sleep very well. On the other hand, the air con @ work is just too good. It's so cold that I have wear big jacket all the time and I still get a minor cold.

It's firework time! First one started on Wednesday as usual. The event almost got cancelled due to lack of funding. I don't know how it managed to happen now. It's good anyway. Planned to go to my apartment roof top to view the firework from far but once we got there, the roof top was already closed due to the construction. Really disappointed and as we drove away, saw a few people gathered along the corner of Oak & 7th Ave. That's indeed a secret spot! We just stand there and my hubby took a few pictures with his new DSLR. Pictures didn't turn out too well though, which is kinda expected for the first time.

Got really tired on Friday and sleep almost 11 hours! On Saturday I went back to work for 2 hours then planned to go to Jerico Beach afterward. But it started lightening and then raining around evening time. So at the end, we went back to the "secret spot" for the firework again. This time we didn't take any picture as there's light rain.

Sunday, went jogging with friend in QE Park in the morning for about an hour. I was a bit concerned with the hot weather but it turns out a bit cloudy and gentle breeze. Perfect for jogging! Again, my Grouse Grind plan is not carried out as the trail may be really slippery after the rain. Went grocery shopping in the afternoon as usual. After dinner, my old problem started to come back and haunt me. :(

This weekend

Had a rather relaxing weekend.

Saturday, had Taiwanese noodle for lunch. After that watch Harry Potter. I'm surprised that there is no 3D version shown here as I heard there is 3D version in Hong Kong.
And more surprisingly, there is no lineup for the 5:30 show when I got to the theater at 4:30! The movie itself is not bad. Same "Harry Potter" style. The main characters have grown up so much. Not "kids" anymore.

Sunday, had left over for lunch, then head out to have a hair cut. I LOVE long hair but it's just too long for my "active" lifestyle. It takes too long to dry. In the hot summer days I just feel too hot. After the hair cut, I seem to have a bit headache and also late to go grouse grind (or it's more like an excuse). I guess I just sleep too late. Finally, head out to West Van to take some pictures. Again, I'm just way to big to be in front of camera...I am looking forward to other portrait shot after losing 20 lbs (will I ever get to that stage...)! Dinner in Cannery. Book through opentable.com and take advantage of the 1000 points special. Just need another 1000 point reservation and I will be able to claim my $26 voucher!

Exercise Log (week 16)

Tuesday: Run 36 mins (to the stop sign) without stopping in between. And again, soccer is cancelled due to lack of people...
Lunch: orange, banana + oatmeal

Wednesday: No exercise but I had ham+cheese croissant + matcha latte from Blenz.

Thursday: Run 37 minutes (to the stop sign). Some how I feel like running much faster than Tuesday. Perhaps I am wrong? The time is not less than Tuesday?
Lunch: Orange + half apple + blueberries

Exercise Log (week 15)

Soccer is cancelled due to rainy weather on Tuesday. :(

And starting Wednesday I'm not feeling too well so I even cancelled the Grouse Grind trip on Saturday. Still, I went for a walk in the Lighthouse Park. Better than nothing!

Sunday: jogging in QE Park for about an hour.

Relaxing Weekend

Saturday
Originally planed to go hiking up Grouse Grind. Haven't done that for a few years. But I wasn't feeling too well since 2 days ago so I guess my energy level is not good enough for this intensive workout yet. Still, I want to head out to the nature in such a nice (and hot) weather so we decided to go to the Lighthouse Park in West Van.

Although it's a relatively easy walk in the Lighthouse Park, we still decided to have a nice and fatty meal before heading out to the trail. We had lunch @ the Modern Burger
Despite the sliding review, I still like the burger and especially the milkshake. I do found that not as many people as before. It used to be full house around the same time I went half a year ago. And of course, I like the retro 1950s interior design there.

After lunch we started heading towards the Lighthouse Park in West Van. After a relatively easy hike (mostly downhill), we arrived at the view point. That is, the light house. :)

On the way back we pass by the West Van Community Center. Yeah I can tell it's a rich community since the community center is so pretty and large. It's even better looking than the university campus!

After that we stopped at the Village besides Park Royal and have a drink. Since we are still full from the "burger", we went back home for dinner.
Weekend @ West Van

Sunday
Had lunch in Vietnamese noodle place. This is the 2nd time we went there. And wow! Bump into people we know from two other tables! One couple from the Europe tour we joined last year (although it took me a while to figure out how we knew each other). And my ex coworker. He's so good at singing, particularly sing like Leslie Cheung! We had chat for a while. After lunch, we head down to the States to get Sees' Candies for my Dad. To my surprise, huge lineup. I am so grateful that I got Nexus card, otherwise there would be an hour lineup. Same with coming back to Canada around 7. Lineup is also around 1 hour if no nexus. This time we went through the Nexus lane in Peach Arch.

Exercise Log (week 14)

Monday: Still in "post holiday" mood after the 4-day trip. Went out for grocery shopping during lunch hour instead.
Lunch: Ham+Egg bun + mango crepe

Tuesday: Soccer with coworker for 1 hour
Lunch: European cheese cake + mocha @ Diplomat. Treat my friend's a slice of cake for her birthday.

Wednesday: Canada Day holiday...walk around Steveston Village and Whiterock ( I guess walk 1 hour @ each place)
Lunch: Dim sum
Dinner: still full from lunch, had carrot soup + some veggie instead.

Thursday: no exercise, went back home to prepare my curry chicken dinner. Hubby got a last minute notice conference call at 8pm. I won't have enough time to get dinner ready before his call. So I gave up my exercise time during lunch hour for cooking. The curry chicken turns out quite good though. :)
Lunch: orange + kiwi

Friday: Swimming for half an hour (17 25-m pool-deep water side, so there is not much stopping in between).
Lunch: crepe @ cafe crepe with friends (yeah...drive to d/t)

Saturday: Jogging in QE Park for about half an hour (+ walking so altogether about 1 hour)
Lunch: left over from last night.

Canada Day

A very relaxing day. After having dim sum @ Starlight Kirin, had a walk in Fisherman's Wharf in Richmond. However, I guess we were too late and missed the parade and salmon festival. After that we drove all the way to Whiterock and walked around for another hour. Then it's perfect time for the movie - Transformer II. I am not particularly thrilled about this kind of movie. I didn't even watch part I. Movie ended at 10:30 but we were still kinda full from the lunch. So we just had carrot soup from last night, a few pieces left over dim sum and veggie for "dinner".
