Exercise Log (week 9)

Monday: still recovering from the 7K run yesterday. Legs are too sore for any exercise.
Lunch: 1 slice of mango cheese cake, 1 tiramisu, 1 small chicken pot pie...(sigh)

Tuesday: Swimming 8 laps (first 7 laps in half an hour)
Lunch: oatmeal + orange + banana

Wednesday: Running 47 minutes in total - complete the trail in 15 minutes, walk for 2 minutes, then run for another 15 minutes, walk 6 minutes, then run another 12 minutes, then walk back to office.
Lunch: one pack of cereal drink + orange
I think I have traded off endurance to speed. I run faster in the first 15 minutes but can't keep going without a break as before. Is that a good thing?

Thursday: Swimming 8 laps (in half an hour)
Lunch: yogurt, orange + small apple
I think I swim faster and faster now...

Friday: Running 44 minutes in total - trail in 16 minutes, walk for 1 minute, then run in the trail again and back (17 minutes).
Lunch: yogurt, banana, orange, kiwi

Exercise Log (week 8)

Thursday: Swim 6 laps
Lunch: Papaya milk, a cream puff and 1/3 chocolate cake.

Friday: Run 47 minutes but with some walk in between. I think the net run time is about 40. First time able to keep up with my coworker for 15 minutes. I wasn't able to do that for so long in my recent run.
Lunch: two spoonful of yogurt from Save on food sampling booth. A small cheese cube, tiny slice of ham. A pack of cereal drink with 1% skim milk.

Sunday: Run for 7km and walk about 1km along River Road. (total 1 hr 15 minutes)
Lunch: Dim sum...
I still think I can burn all those calories. :)

Defeated

My laziness has won me.

No exercise.

No oatmeal this week.

My weight is coming back.

Worst of all, I am in part of the game where I don't see the end of it. Because I have no control at all. I started to hate myself now.

Mother's day

This year, my mom is in town during Mothers' Day, yeah!

Had dinner in Boston Cafe on Saturday, my treat :)

After dinner, made two mothers' day card. One for my mom and the other for my MIL.

For my mom:

For my mother in law:

Sunday morning, went back to work. It's so "funny" that on weekend, I usually go back to work earlier than weekdays.
Had lunch with the in-laws family in West Lake. Then I go back to work until dinner time.

Dinner in the "Wong" Shanghainese restaurant.
Somehow the server mess up our order. We ordered the Peking duck set dinner but she took down the other set dinner instead. By the time we found out, we already had the soup which is for the other set meal.

In the end, we had an extra soup and extra appetizer. We paid extra $10 tip though. But total $120 for 7 people, with 3 take out boxes left over, is still very good price.

Exercise Log (week 6)

Actually...I did no exercise.

Lunch: had oatmeal once, fruit only once, matcha latte two times, Greek lunch with coworkers on Friday.

But I'm still glad that my weight drops 6 lbs from the highest point.

Will resume exercise next week.

Fisherman Wharf

Haven't been to Fisherman Wharf for long time.

Suddenly, I want to go there for a walk.

It's a chilly May afternoon. Not many people/visitors are on the street.

I bought a cup of matcha latte from Blenz to warm my hands.

I sat down on the bench along the shoreline. I'm still feeling cold, although it has nothing to do with the wind. I was there until my cramps started to hurt.

I guess 5 minutes driving distance is close, but yet still far away.

Everytime

I don't used to listen to English songs much. I always feel that my English is not good enough to understand the lyrics.

There are only a few singer I am more familiar with: Madonna and Sarah Brightman. I heard of Mariah Carey but not much of her songs.

Until I play a Wii game that feature Amy Winehouse and Britney's song.

To me, Britney is some young crazy girl whose is overwhelmed by her early fame. Her song? Almost never heard of.

Anyway, as I were searching the original version of the one played in the Wii game (Toxic), I came across her other song. I instantly fall in love with.

Love the lyrics, love the melody.

Lyrics:

~Everytime~
Notice me
Take my hand
Why are we
Strangers when
Our love is strong
Why carry on without me?

Everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, it's haunting me
I guess I need you baby

I make believe
That you are here
It's the only way
I see clear
What have I done?
You seem to move on easy

And everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, you're haunting me
I guess I need you baby

I may have made it rain
Please forgive me
My weakness caused you pain
And this song's my sorry

At night I pray
That soon your face will fade away

And everytime I try to fly
I fall without my wings
I feel so small
I guess I need you baby
And everytime I see you in my dreams
I see your face, you're haunting me
I guess I need you baby
~~~~~~~~~
My mood is all set on this song.
Catcus Club (DT location: Burrard and Dunsmuir )
I used to see Cactus Club as casual chained restaurant, similar to White Spot, Milestone etc.
I guess I was too outdated.
During lunch with a family friend, she recommended the new Cactus Club in the downtown location which is, lead by Rob Feenie.
Although the name Cactus Club doesn't ring the bell much, the Canadian Iron Chef Rob Fennie, previous chef of Lumiere, does strike the bell. He's the lead of the Cactus club now. She said she wants to try a few time but was detoured by the long line up each time she wants to go. So that tells me, it's a good place, worth a visit!
Since my other birthday friend chose to go to Cactus club as the dining place, perfect! Let's try out the new DT location!
We are welcomed by the 2-level tall glass panel. Very modern and chic.
Inside there is a transparent 2-level high wine storage, similar to the one I have seen in Mandalay Bay (Vegas).
The ambiance inside is also very upscale.
We had tried the yam fries as appetizers, the daily special pistachios crush halibut with red curry sauce, the burger, salad, scallop and shrimp speghetti, and steak.
The garlic mayo sauce that comes with the yam fries tastes so good! And halibut, is usually rough in texture, but it turns out silky smooth! It is a surprised to me.
Price is decent.
So the conclusion is, I will be back!
2 cards this week!
My card output was pretty low these days.
Finally I had a chance to make not just one, but two cards!
One for my friend's birthday, the one for coworker's new coming girl.
Material:
HA Birthday frame set!
Cuttlebug folder: Spots and Dots
Although, eventually I chose to give my friend the previous shaker card.
This one is for my coworker:
Material:
Butterfly trail is from HA. On the back I have "handmade from the heart" stamp from HA.
Cuttlebug folder: Swiss Dots.
It's also my first time to try embossing with Nestabilities folder.
Inspired by this card.
Sleepless nights...
Last few days I had very rough sleep.
Often I got waken up at 3am and can't fall asleep until dawn.
I guess it's a sign of getting old...
or, my mind is too occupied that it is not willing to take a rest.
