Zakkushi Charcoal Grill

First time to this place for my SIL's birthday. Before that I have heard some good review from my friend's already. But didn't have a chance to try till now. This place is a bit hard to find because the outside is covered with a few curtain and hardly see any sign.

Anyway, the Main and King Ed location is the 3rd location of this restaurant and here's the website.

We had a set dinner for 5 and add a couple more dishes (as we have 6 people altogether).

The decor inside:

The Menu:

Barisoba Salad:
Green salad, crispy soba noodle, nori and green onion. Tastes good!

Starter:
From the left: Gomaae, Takowasabi, Edmame
Takowasabi is raw octopus mixed with wasabi stems.

Sashimi with additional order of Uzura Maki (quail egg wrapped with pork slices) at the back.
The sashimi is very fresh. The shrimp head will be taken back and deep fried afterwards.

P-toro (pork)

Momo (chicken thigh)

Zakkushi Savory Bowl (not from the set menu)
Terriyaki chicken with two extra skewers.

This doesn't seem to be on the menu...
But it's like a seafood bowl with salmon and a bit of oyster. There are quite some veggie inside. The soup is then taken back and cook congee in it! Since the soup is cooked with seafood, the congee is just fantastic with the fresh sweetness of the seafood.

At the cake cutting time, the chandelier is suddenly turned off (I thought it's a power outage in the first place!), and the server all sang out the birthday song LOUD!

The crispy chocolate Raspberry cake is from Thomas Hass.
Dark Manjari chocolate-raspberry mousse, light vanilla Bavarian, chocolate sacher sponge cake, and crispy hazelnut wafer. The sweetness of the chocolate is well balanced with the sour raspberry taste. Great cake!

What a great way to end the meal!
