New year, new run

I do feel sorry for my little negated blog. Lots of things going on and keeping up this blog seems to be the last thing I was able to do.

After 5 years, I finally decided to join Sun Run again.

But sadly, my only practice is the one time 5K walk (which took an hour).

So, Sun Run had become Sun WALK this time.

Nonetheless, it's still a good start. Fast walking 10K isn't a too easy job, either.

A little bit run and mostly walk gives me this kind of "embarrassing" result:

Time Pace Category Cat. Place Gender Place
1:44:51 10:30 F35-39 1491/2153 16622/23782

Compare to this ...

Hopefully, I can get back in shape and run all the way like before in the next one...

Gloomy Monday

Fog usually dissipates in the afternoon, not today. Everywhere looks so gloomy.

My thought just drifts like the morning fog. What else can be worst than 5 car incidents within a year, flooded basement, non-closing garage door when all these happened while the account is already running low.

People say time heals, account will recover (as long as I don't get fired) but how long does it take to heal a broken heart?

Eventually there would be a scar; but pain remains, in the memory.

New Year, New Start

It's not my intention to neglect my poor little blog. But I am way too occupied with other things.

And no, I am not going to have new year resolution. It's just not "my thing".

I only have a "wish list".

Lose weight is definitely on top of the list.

And then, just to enjoy life.

After all, LIFE IS GOOD.

I really want to feel that way.

Finally, I exercise.

Sadly, the new running outfit was just sitting in a corner of my office, collecting dust. It's just too hot (I know it can't be compared with Asia but still HOT) to run outside when the sun is highest at noon.

And this BC Day long weekend must have been the hottest time in this summer. Really, I can't sleep without air conditioning. I almost can't sleep with a not so good air conditioning unit. Not to mention in the afternoon, everyone was sweating in my house.

After friend's visit on Sunday afternoon (I do regret that I don't have ice cream prepared but just no time), I decided to do some cleaning.

I used to mop the floor once a month or so, that has been changed to once every 2-3 weeks when my Mom is here, and now it's down to once a week. I simply can't stand the dirt on the floor. Vacuum once a week also becomes a must as baby always walk on the carpet with her bare feet.

When the house cools off a bit at night, I started to quickly vacuum the place. I have to do it quick before baby head to bed. Then, 2 loads of laundry (one for the bathroom rug, and one for my own clothing). After that, bathroom cleaning (basement + powder room). Then off to fold the existing cleaned laundry that scattered along my bed. The clean laundered clothes has already pilled up too much and it becomes a treasure hunt to look for cloth to wear. Last but not least, floor moping so the kitchen floor is once again nice and clean.

After 3 hours, I'm completely soaked with sweat but house is nice and fresh (well, except one place...). And it's almost 3am...

On Monday night, I decided to clean up the remaining spot in my house, my bathroom.
I always wanna put off my bathroom cleaning just because it usually takes good 45 minutes to an hour to do so. I'm not just talking about the toilet. To completely clean my bathroom I mean the sink, toilet, bath tub and the most time consuming job, the countertop. I guess I have too many things sitting on my bathroom counter: a small rack for my hair accessories/brush/comb/hair dryer etc., tooth brush, a container for rinse cup (just to avoid bugs crawling along my rinsing cup), a few bottles of different lotion/cream and shampoo. And just to clean the tooth brush base (I'm using electronic tooth brush) takes long time, as there usually contains water dirt in the base area and it's hard to clean between the small gap. Since it's such a "big job", I don't clean the countertop that often. Usually to a point that I can't really stand the dust accumulated...

And 2 more loads of laundry (1 baby's clothing and 1 dark colour clothes) marks the completion of my house cleaning journey of the week.

I am hoping to burn all the calories from the nice food I had during weekend...who says housework is not a type of exercise?

Getting back to Exercise

I wish the number that goes straight up is the balance in my account; indeed the number that keeps going up, is my weight.

How sad! One thing I'm looking forward to do when I get back to work is that I can have some time to do exercise!

But before picking up some routine, I need new outfit (just because the old one doesn't fit).

So I bought one sport bra, two running top, one jacket and one swimming suit.

Hope I don't need to have new running shoes...wait...where did the old pair go?

Busy busy bee

Actually most if not all weekend in March I am pretty busy. Packed up with different appointments.

Saturday: potluck lunch (her house is huge, like her koi pond under the staircase).
Then massage appointment. I am almost late so I drive instead of taking skytrain. $18 to park for about 2 hours is definitely very expensive to me. But, very nice facilities, clean, and feeling so pampered. Surprisingly, the massage therapist is not too strong pressed on me but my muscle is sore afterwards. Shop a little bit along south Granville area. Then dinner at home afterwards.

Sunday: went to West Van. Had brunch in Wholefood Market. I just want to visit Urban Tea Merchant before its door closed by the end of the month. Feeling sad that one unique tea place is gone. I do like this location than the downtown location, even though it's further away. It's just a perfect excuse to visit West Van once a while.
Afternoon tea in downtown with my friend. It's quite pricey but food is very delicate. But next time I would try the other menu. I seem to like that presentation better (2 portions on one big plate instead of the traditional 3-tier plates). After high-tea, I took skytrain home and then head out to shop grocery, mopping garage floor, cook dinner, did 2 loads of laundry, moping kitchen floor afterwards. I think my calories intake is all gone...

Back is sore now...still...

Stranger Under My Skin

Stranger Under My Skin - Eason Chan 陳奕迅

I believed Eason is one of the best Hong Kong singers nowadays. Ever since I watch his local concert, I realized his English is just very good. In particular, I love his British accent.

This is the first time I hear about this song. Love his English, love the opening lyrics too.

Love is a mystery to me
She was once here, and now she’s someone
that I could not bear
No matter how I tried ‘ll the day I died
Damages are done and hidden within
Those were the thing that were hidden under my skin

All the burning roses
Filled up with ashes
Crying out loud but no time for condolences
Like a stranger’s ‘stare’,she never cared

Those were the thing that were hidden under my skin

Drifting alone, on my own
Be it a car or a shooting star
Its glare finally came to the end of something
I could not bear

Those were the thing that were hidden under my skin
